Huaxin Road is also called "overseas Chinese new village" which was built in the beginning of 1950s to meet the demand of returned overseas Chinese and their families. It has red-brick and white-tile Southern Fujian buildings and well- designed western- style houses. Compared with the prosperity and bustle of Gulangyu, it seems more poetic. Nowadays, the plants coming with returned overseas Chinese from Southeast Aisa have grown into a kind of landscape. The buildings on both sides quietly stand in the morning and at dusk, and the old people in the courtyard drink tea and chat to recall the hardship in foreign countries.
