Transportation 

Throughout the year 2022, the added value of transportation, storage, post and telecommunication sectors reached 34.03 billion yuan, down by 3.2 percent year on year. The volume of passenger traffic slumped to 37.73 million person-trips, down by 18.8 percent from a year earlier; the passenger turnover was 24.14 billion persons per kilometer, down by 25.6 percent compared with last year; the cargo freight volume had achieved an amount of 431 million tons, up by 10.1 percent; and the goods turnover volume was 318.39 billion ton-kilometer, up by 13 percent. By the end of that year, 184 production berths had been available in Xiamen harbor (including Zhanghzou), 79 berths of which had the handling capacity of 10 thousand DWT. The cargo handling capacity at ports was 219 million tons, down by 3.percent, while the container handling capacity was 12.43 million TEUs (standard container of twenty foot equivalent unit), up by 3.2 percent.

As scheduled in Year 2022 Spring and Winter Flight Timetable, Xiamen Airline had opened 156 air routes to date, including 13 international (regional) ones, from which 4 were intercontinental ones. Eight foreign (regional) airlines at Xiamen airport had opened navigation with 12 overseas cities (including Hong Kong, Macao, Taipei and Kaohsiung ) with regular routine. The passenger throughout of the city hit 10.13 million person-trips, down by 32.3 percent, of which 481.1 thousands passengers were via international and regional routes and the air cargo handling capacity was 262.1 thousand, up by 57.4% and -12.0% respectively. 

Post and Telecommunication Services   

In 2022, the total business transaction of post and telecommunication services reached 10.8 billion yuan, an increase of 18.2 percent over the previous year; that in telecommunication services arrived at 8.02 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.0 percent. There were 958.5 thousand fixed-line telephone subscribers in Xiamen, 48.8 thousand less than last year, and 6.8 million cellular phone subscribers in total, 141.4 thousand more than last year. Specifically, there were 3.75 million 4G cellular subscribers and 2.46 million 5G cellular subscribers. The number of fixed broadband internet access users was 2.83 million, an increase of 197.8 thousand, and the mobile internet users was 6.15 million, increasing by 232.1 thousand.

Tourism

In 2022, Xiamen had received 65.69 million tourists at home and abroad, up by 6.4 percent over the previous year, bringing about overall tourism revenue of 85.52 billion yuan, a year-on-year decline of 8.7 percent. Of all the tourists, the number of Xiamen’s inbound visitors reached 273.5 thousand, decreasing by 10.1 percent year on year; the amount of inbound overnight visitors was 273.5 thousand, slumping by 10.1 percent year on year; and the foreign exchange earnings from tourism declined by 23.3 percent to $180 million. The domestic tourists pouring to Xiamen totaled 65.41 million person-times, down by 6.4 percent over the previous year, while the domestic overnight tourists reached 19.4 million person-times, decreasing by 24.4 percent. The revenue from domestic tourism reached 84.32 billion yuan, a decrease of 8.5 percent. Throughout the year, the city provided a total of 3,579 tourism accommodation units, including 43 star-rated hotels and 19 five-star hotels.

Convention & Exhibition

The year 2022 had witnessed 113 exhibitions held in Xiamen, with a total exhibition area of 1.34 million square meters, up by 8.7% and 6.5% respectively. 2,056 times of commerce conferences capable of accommodating groups of above 50 people were held here and the participants numbered 317.3 thousand, a respective decrease of 31.0% and 44.5%. The exhibition industry over the past year altogether generated economic revenue of 15.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year decline of 11.2 percent.
